7 Steps to Creating Your Most Powerful Goals

In a world that is so goal driven, do you ever wonder why so many goals never fully come to fruition? Can you recall a personal or professional goal, or maybe several, that never made it past the first week or month of it coming to your mind?

Do you attribute that to your lack of wanting or desiring your goal?  Could it be that you weren't meant to have that dream come true? Could it be that external conditions and situations stopped you from moving forward with your goal?

More often than not, it is because the goal maker does not know the most effective and powerful way to create goals.  Did you even know there was a "most powerful way" in goal setting?!  I didn't before I began my research.  While exploring goal setting to build confidence and create massive transformations, I found:

7 Ways to Create Powerful Goals:

1. Desire Dump. List all of the things you want over the next 20-30 years.  Nothing is too small or too big.  We often limit ourself when we dare to dream big, immediately telling ourself that "It will never happen" or "that's so unrealistic...stop being so silly".  We can also disregard what we consider small goals that are actually key to your larger success.  Your mindset must be that every step is important and anything is possible.  Create your most expansive list-what life purpose you are carrying out, where you live, where you want to travel, what you want in your relationships, what charities you want to donate to and be involved in, health, habits-list everything!  This list includes all of your desires.  You do not have to figure out the how, you only have to know what you want for your big life vision.  Reach to list at the very minimum 100 desires, and see if you can reach into the thousands!

2. Identify your why.  For each desire, identify why you wish to reach this goal.  The focus here is to understand your desires on a deeper level, and what achieving this desire truly means for you.  It adds drama, life, and emotion to your desires, which deepens our connection with that desire, which empowers the goals and makes it easier for you to imagine, visualize, and attain.

3. Create a visual.  Find as many pictures that speak to your goals as possible.  Cut them out from magazines.  Find them on your computer and print them out.  Create a Pinterest board.  You can place them in a "Goals and Visualization Journal" or create a Vision Board.  Just as long as you look at this visual at least twice throughout the day.  I actually take a picture of my vision board (which I update every 6 months) and have it as my screen saver.  This was highly intentional so I look at it multiple times throughout the day.  The practice of looking at your visual will speed up the process of reaching your goals.

4. Visual Imagery.  Set aside at least 20-30 minutes a day that is dedicated to imagining yourself living in this reality of your desires.  Read your list.  Look at your pictures.  Feel what it is like to achieve these goals.  Imagine it as if you are already living in this reality.  The truth in manifestation through quantum physics is that this reality already exists...it is up to us to raise our vibrational energy to align with that current reality.  That is deep discussion for another day!

5. Daily Steps.   There is always something you can do in the Now, regardless of how small you believe them to be, that will lead you closer to your goals.  It is important to be intentional with your actions. Bring your goals to your awareness every morning so you will be able to act more deliberately through the day to bring you closer to your goals.

6. Attitude of Gratitude.  Move through all actions and thoughts of your life with gratitude.   Notice the abundance around you.  Offer gratitude for the goals you have already achieved and that you are achieving your listed goals.  Gratitude is an action of certainty.  You already have abundance, so abundance is flowing freely all around you.

7. Celebrate.  It is so important to celebrate reaching your goals.  Identify what you will do to celebrate once you meet your goal.  You can treat yourself to a spa day, a nice dinner, a road trip, etc.  Whatever you come up with, just be sure you are celebrating and enjoying the fruits of your labor.

It may seem like a lot of work and when you think about the end goal of living out your ideal life vision and best life, I know from personal experience (and research) it is worth it!  For years, I would imagine having my own successful business where I could create programs without any limitations from the C levels.  I imagined traveling with my family.  Shoot, I imagined simply being there for my kids sporting events and parent teacher conferences-all things I missed while following the rules and structures of climbing the corporate ladder.  Since implementing these 7 simple steps to achieving my goals-along with a lot of internal work of removing my internal obstacles of expansion (a story for another time!), I am living that life I had only dreamed of!  I make it to all of the sporting events, all of the conferences, work from home, am excited about the work I am doing, and expanding my business!

Reaching your all of your desires is possible. Only you can decide if it's worth it-which it is.  Only you can decide if it's possible for you-which it is.  Only you can decide how badly you want to achieve your goals.
